Statement from Sahara on SAT Proceedings on IRDA order

PRESS NOTE
SAHARA LIFE INSURANCE SUCCEEDS AGAINST IRDA ORDER
SAT QUASHED IRDA ORDER TRANSFERING BUSINESS
In a significant judgement, Securities Appellate Tribunal, (SAT), today, quashed the order dated July 28, 2017 passed by Insurance Regulatory Development Authority transferring the Life Insurance business of Sahara Life Insurance to an outside insurer, namely – ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Co. Ltd.
SAT while allowing Sahara's appeal, expressed serious concern over the manner Insurance Authority acted in the matter against Sahara Life and considered the said action of Insurance Authority highly fatal and irregular so as to vitiate the very appointment of the Administrator and all his further actions, in the facts and circumstances of the case. SAT opined that the report of the Administrator should have at least been supplied to Sahara Life before passing the impugned order.
Sahara Life Insurance got a major respite and its stand was vindicated by SAT, when it remanded and restored the whole matter to the file of the IRDA with a direction to proceed from the stage of seeking a representation/response from Sahara Life on the Administrator’s report in question as well as providing opportunity of being heard to Sahara Life and its stake holders, in consonance with the principles of natural justice and directing to complete the hearing as per law within three monthsfrom the date of receipt of Sahara ’s reply to the Administrator’s report in question as per law and after giving opportunity of hearing to them.

It was contended by Sahara Life in the said appeal that the Insurance Authority had illegally and with malafide intent transferred its business to an outside insurer, namely – ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Co. Ltd. without affording any opportunity of hearing to it and the Administrator appointed by the Insurance Authority was acting in concert for the benefit of a third party, who recommended the other options but unilaterally recommended for transfer of business.

My take on Think with Me

Subrata Roy Sahara knows how difficult it is to reach where he is, success is always hard earned and being successful in a country like India is even more difficult. Now, you must be wondering what a vague statement is that, but let’s get deeper into it. Starting with the overpopulation, getting into a good school, a better college is so difficult, there are times when even 99% marks are not enough for getting into a college where you’ve always dreamed of studying.

Citing the same problem of population, businessmen face a strong competition and mind you this competition is cut-throat. And it is so, only because there are lots of people doing the same business. Earning money in our country is hard. How does one rectify this and make living in India a fairly easy? We are constantly working hard and failing to be happy with our lives, what will make this better?

When we look at the professionals in the western countries, we see how well organized their lives are, how comfortably they reach work and come home at the same time daily and spend time with their families. Unlike us, we struggle to reach our offices, courtesy packed public transport, traffic or bad roads. Most of us don’t ever leave office in time as all of us are over-worked and burdened, doing work worth two employees. The list goes on and on.

Saharasri, in ‘Think with Me’, discusses population, education and all the other factors he thinks, if fixed, will lead India in becoming a better and ideal country! It’s a book, I highly recommend to all the people who keep wondering where is our country going wrong and is not progressing as fast as it should. Also, to all those people who consider themselves as concerned citizens.

‘Think with Me’ has given me a better understanding of our Country and I will do my best to contribute to its betterment!

Fundamentals for making our country ideal - 'Think with me'

Subrata Roy Sahara needs no introduction, the world has seen him grow into the successful businessman that he is and in spite of all his success, he has still managed to remain one of the humblest people you will ever come across. What makes him stay so humble and positive in life is not a secret, he has written a book on it called “Life Mantras”, which has been a bestseller for a while too.

So, after ‘Life Mantra’ comes ‘Think with Me’, a book from Saharasri’s trilogy. In ‘Think with Me’, he basically focuses on how to make India, our country an ideal one. We all know how our country is facing problems of various types, be it education, the religion and media degrading, political leadership, over population, etc. We often end up wondering what is it that we can do to make India a more livable place. Doubts like is the democracy really not helping India become better? Why aren’t we progressing despite so many efforts in the form of schemes, bills, laws etc.? Why aren’t our leaders able to do anything to fix the situation and make our country better?

Many young adults are indulging in a phenomenon known as ‘Brain Drain’, because the overall lifestyle and stand of living in our country is deteriorating with time as opposed to other countries which are only getting bigger and better. This is definitely not going to do our country any good as if you understand the situation, the brightest and most intelligent people are educating themselves from India and when it is time to use this very education and intelligence, they prefer to settle down in another country, adding to their grown and overall improvement.

‘Think with Me’ is more of an eye-opener for many and even if there will be some thoughts that you may not agree with, but the overall book is something every concerned citizen of India will agree with..

The secret of staying positive

Almost everyone at some points of time in their lives, have wondered or mused about the ‘secret’ to success. While there are many people who seem to offer advice on that topic with not much to show in terms of credentials, Subrata Roy is an exception. He is a man that has successfully started his own company with very little capital and gradually turned it into one of the biggest companies of the world. ‘Sahara’ is a company that was one of the first Indian companies to have a tangible global presence. It had interests in various sectors and was a thriving and flourishing business that employed millions of people at one point of time.

Subrata Roy is currently penning the sequel to his successful book, ‘Life Mantras’ which was released some time back. ‘Life Mantras’ is a book that is filled with pearls of wisdom relating to success. These pearls of wisdom emanate from Mr Roy’s life as a businessman and his various experiences during his life time. He has generously shared some of those experiences in detail throughout the book. Along with it being an interesting read, it is also a great guidebook to finding success in all the key areas of life.

There are amazing insights in the book about staying positive in life. It also has some meaningful words on handling one’s composure through the tough times. This was and remains to this day, Subrata Roy’s most inspirational quality. He has faced all of his life’s experiences with a great amount of humility and dignity. There are many men that will stand proudly when people talk of
their successes but there are very few men with enough guts to own up to their mistakes and take some responsibility. Subrata Roy has always been the man that takes responsibility for his actions.

He talks about the meaning and importance of ‘responsibility’ in great detail throughout his book, ‘Life Mantras’. Anybody that is looking to add some kind of structure to their lives should read this book. It has guidelines for attaining a peaceful work-life balance that most people can only dream about.
